friday trip to bowen island

friday night steve-o took us out on the maiden voyage of his boat for this year. it was a pretty exciting trip for my first time. this is a shot of how busy english bay was on friday afternoon...
from english bay you can see bonnie's apartment building. it's the building on the right about halfway down... yup, that where's she lives... facing the ocean.
over at bowen island there is a really cool little tree at the base of the inlet.
here is steve-o and bonnie on the public dock at bowen island after dinner. we then proceeded out to go home and ran out of gas... figures that the gas gage was broken. we were saved by a tugboat and took two hours going slowly home in the dark. haha... quite an adventure for a friday night.

Naramata Bench and the drive to Vancouver

Laughing Stock Vineyards is quite likely my new favourite winery concept. I actually bought a t-shirt that is stock prices and says "How liquid are your assests?"
This is the bell tower at Mission Hill Winery. The bells chime every quarter hour and do a battle peel at 12pm and 5pm.
20 minutes outside of Kelowna we hit a snowstorm... it clears up around Merritt and then we hit another storm when we got on the Coquihalla. P.S. We were wearing shorts....
Here's Bonnie with some of our wines. The song started as "44 bottles of wine on the wall, 44 bottles of wine, take one down, pass it around..." I think we've made it to 39.

We've been pretty lazy this week. Neither of us are feeling the greatest (haha.. must be the wine). Headed to North Van today.

P.P.S. Hooray for Shaun on Dancing with the Stars! More importantly, hooray for Kris on American Idol!! So You Think You Can Dance starts tonight!! Yipee...

black sage wineries tour

after going to Sumac Ridge yesterday we then headed to Jackson-Triggs, this was our one and only photo shoot of the day.
this is the view from the Burrowing Owl estate winery restaurant. chef bernard is absolutely amazing and it was a fabulous lunch.
the beautiful building at Road 13. built by the owner's for their daughter to come home a take over the winery, but she got married and moved to Calgary instead.
the mostly penticton sign from hwy 97. i'm told that once somebody used white garbage bags to make it say "graceland".

the drive to kelowna

the drive to kelowna was beautiful today. as you can see in the first picture, we had a full rainbow that followed us all the way from vancouver until past chilliwack. we considered that a good sign. the drive was long but beautiful. kelowna is absolutely amazing and the fairfield here is great. we are off for our wine tour tomorrow... chances are good that we'll be wrecked tomorrow evening but be sure that more pictures will follow.

ugly-half naked neighbour

Finally a picture of ugly half-naked neighbour for your viewing pleasure. Maybe I'll get a better chance to catch him unsuspecting with a zoomed-in shot. haha...... even when it's freezing outside he's topless.

to walk or not to walk

I really wish that I could predict Vancouver weather. They (and by they, I mean those uber-skilled meteorologists) are calling for a 100% chance of rain today. Alright bucko, I get it, it's definitely going to rain today. But when?

I'd love to go for a long visit to Lord Stanley's park, perhaps from English Bay out to third beach and back, but I'd like to go when I'm not going to get caught in torrential rainfall on the seawall. Can we not track radars and dew points yet so that they can predict WHEN it will rain. The Weather Network can break down weather by hour but they are calling for showers every hour from 8am until 8pm. I've been up for three hours and have not seen a raindrop.

Ergo, I am inside. I spent an hour looking for jobs and another hour signing up on twitter... you can't keep me away from a technological development for long. whahahaha... http://twitter.com/crystaltobin

I did manage to get some awesome pictures of last night's sunset, and of bonnie's ugly half-naked guy neighbour but my battery is almost dead and I'm just not that motivated at the moment. These cheery blossoms need to skidaddle so that my allergies can chill out.

Maybe after my walk.
